Heat

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
A HOT AND HUMID AIRMASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. IT WILL BE EVEN MORE HUMID THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING COMPARED TO MONDAY...AND JUST AS HOT. WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES OF NEAR 100 DEGREES...COMBINED WITH HIGH HUMIDITY...EXPECT AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES TO RANGE BETWEEN 105 TO 109 DEGREES.

O wind, rend open the heat,
cut apart the heat,
rend it to tatters.

Fruit cannot drop
through this thick air--
fruit cannot fall into heat
that presses up and blunts
the points of pears
and rounds the grapes.

Cut the heat--
plough through it,
turning it on either side
of your path.

What a wonderful poem.
HD was a genius. Good ol' Hilda.
I liked her poem "Oread" too.

Who says the Imagists didn't have anything to say? :-)

We too suffer through the heat.
